Rules of Topics in Industrial Engineering

The purpose of the contest:

Encourage undergraduate students of IEEM to participate in engineering case study.

Contestants:

All students select Topics in Industrial Engineering course in fall semester. Students have to consult with advisor to finish the course.

Competition Methods:

1. Each group of students demonstrates the Topics content on their own but at least has to use a poster to display the research topic and summaries. The poster size is 90cm * 120cm (A0 size). Our department provides poster format and billboards for students. Students also need to display a written report at the Topics Contest.
2. Our department grants each group production costs one thousand dollars and reimburses by the receipt.
3. Students can use other secondary utilities, such as computer, to support the Topic Contest.

Grading and Awards:

1. Steering Committee will invite outstanding alumni, professors at other schools and professors of our department organized into the Jury of Topic Contest. The Jury of Topic Contest will be in charge for Research Achievement Award.
2. Students will participate in grading the other groups to elect the Research Presentation Award.
3. Score is calculated as follows:

4. Each group has to submit abstract to the department two weeks before the day of Topic Contest.
5. At the day of Topic Contest, each group has 5 minutes to present their topics. Every Jury will score all the groups and select the Research Achievement Award.

Reward:

1. Research Achievement Award

• Each group will be award with a certificate and prize.
• The posters will be placed in the corridor after the Topic Contest.

2. Research Presentation Award

• Each group will be award with a certificate and prize.
• The department will recommend participating in the Chinese Institute of Engineering Tsinghua branch essay contest.

Score of Topics in Industrial Engineering course:

Advisor: 50%

The Jury of Topic Contest: 50%
