Abstract:
This study provides a formal quantitative analysis of factors affecting the service quality of the iPalace channel,
a cloud-based video streaming service initiated by the National Palace Museum. The analysis is based on
queuing models that incorporate factors such as the processing ability on the server side, the bandwidth
allocated for the customer, the traffic condition of the Internet, and the processing ability of the end device
on the client side. An effective simulation procedure capable to deduce the performance of the whole
system from a single component is proposed for the queueing models. The procedure gives estimates
of operations characteristics such as the expected lag time and expected number of interruptions
that a customer may experience.
